Our Environmental Statement

The Purist Company is committed to meeting high levels of environmental practice both in the production of our products and in the day to day running of our business.

We make every effort to minimise waste in our production process. We avoid using excess packaging and utilise recyclable containers.

To support the fight against using plastic bags in Australia, we use only recycled, chlorine free paper and natural fibre bags. The Purist Company makes every effort to choose paper for printing purposes and general office supplies, which supports our environment.

The Purist Company do not use any animal derived ingredients and use certified organic and locally grown ingredients whenever possible.

Can I recycle your packaging?

Yes. All our packaging is made to be recyclable, however please check with your recycling facility to see what they accept.

How can I recycle your products?

As The Purist Company chooses recyable packaging we have listed what each product category the item of packaging material is from. The code is usually a number inside a triangle made up of recycling arrows. The triangle includes a number in it to help identify how to recycle that particular item.

recycling codes

The Purist Company products are coded as either:

-Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET)/Code1

-High Density Polyethelene (HDPE)/Code 2

-Low Density Polyethelene (LDPE)/Code 4

-Polypropylene (PP)/Code 5 or

-Other/Code 7

These codes are found at the bottom of our packaging.

Why we don’t test on animals and use animal ingredients in our products

The Purist Company is against animal testing and does not use animal ingredients or animal by-products in any of our [A’kin] or [Al’chemy] skin and hair care formulations. Following an audit, The Purist Company has been accredited by Choose Cruelty Free, an independent non-profit organisation which seeks to promote a cruelty free lifestyle. All products of The Purist Company are also certified as vegan.

In our technological world, animal testing is wholly unnecessary for two main reasons:

  1. Sufficient safety data already exists in the literature for virtually every ingredient. Even water has been tested on animals in the past.
  2. Numerous alternative irritancy test methods are now available which make animal testing obsolete.

The Purist Company has had all of its formulations independently assessed for toxicity by an expert organisation. All of our formulations have been approved as safe without the requirement to conduct tests on animals.
